Final Blog, Final Project

I have burned my final project on a DVD because it would not upload onto pantherfile. I think it was too big. My project is an installation that should be watched in a dark room. It has images that are paired with sounds that I have manipulated. I used some sound from my second project and news sounds that I have manipulated again. The beginning and the end are the opening and closing of a door and it is to act as if you are entering and leaving a different world.

Here is my second project. I took my sounds from my home that were more on the creepy side and put them together to make a melody. I only used effects from Audacity to manipulate my sounds. I like the middle the best. Over all it is good, but I was having issues with the beginning. I think over all it sounds good and there is a slow creepiness to it so I think it works.

First look at Project

Here is a look at my project. I am still working on moving the sounds around and will be adding new sounds as well. I hope there is a lot of ideas from others to help me move forward with this.

Soundscape

Here is my soundscape project. I wanted to start at a park where it was loud and then turned into to creepy, but as I was going through my sounds I changed it to going from loud, with lots of children talking and playing to little sound at all. It starts with children playing in the park and swinging on the swing set, to no one at the park at all. The ending all you can hear is a little bit of cars, a beeping sound and the trees blowing in the wind.

Trouble with Soundscape

I am having a hard time figuring out where I want to be in this project. I have no idea where to start or what sounds to look for. I got some audio but I feel like the wind got in the way and so did the traffic. I am going to see what audio from my walk I might be able to use, but I need to go out there again this weekend and get more audio. I don't know why I am having trouble with this so far, I just am not in a creative mind. I think I need to find audio in a least expected area, but I have to find that place.

Park Soundwalk

I decided to do my soundwalk at a park because I thought that I would be able to hear a lot of different sounds. I heard a lot of different sounds from people talking to the sound of nature. The people talking was distracting at times because they were young boys and they were cursing a lot and that was frustrating to hear, but I tried my hardest to listen to the sounds beyond what they were saying.

Some high frequency sounds that I heard were the guys talking, a dog barking and a loud car driving by. They weren't there the whole time but the were loud enough to distract me from the other sounds.

The low frequent sounds that I heard were the hum of the traffic, the hum of construction and a whistle from a guy. Lastly the tiniest sounds that I heard were birds, an insect flying by and a dog panting until it grew louder as it got closer to me.

When I stopped walking and just listened to the sounds around me these were the ones I heard: people talking, creaky swing, bikes riding by, car rolling by, the sound of my hand writing on the paper, wind, cell phone ringing, someone running, people walking by, creak of a door and me clearing my throat.

As far as this soundwalk went, I got a good feel of how to clear my mind and just listen to what I wanted to. It gives me an idea about what I should listen for in future projects.
